About the Job
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the firm, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, the ability to manage day-to-day accounting functions, and a willingness to delve into the details. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, and GL.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for accrual and prepaid accounts.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports or statements.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting assistant, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably with a professional services firm.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel skills required, Power BI experience preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to maintain confidentiality.
